Giveaway Closed!

The giveaway is now closed.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all who voted and spread the word. We didn't win, but we surely found out who our friends were and felt much love which is a lot better than any prize Parents Magazine could ever give us.

With the way we did the entries, a random number generator wont really work, so Ill put your name in a hat the appropriate number of times and let the little one pick a name.

Thanks ladies!

It's been a while...

but I'm back with a favor to ask! Don't worry, I'll make it worth your while.

I'm sure you've already been drooling over Tufted Tweets by Laurie Wisbrun. I sold out almost immediately but I do have an awesome scrap pack left over!

The scrap pack contains a little of each print from about 3" x 44" all the way up to almost a full yard. All of this totals approximately 4 yards!

There's a few ways to enter this one!

Little Miss Magic is in the running to be on the cover of Parents magazine. I entered just to gain points from MyPoints but she is doing amazingly well and we actually have a shot at this! Shocking! This is where the ways to win come in!

*Vote for Maridyn here. Please make sure the picture is entitled Maridyn. The link changes, but Ill update it as soon as I see it change. You can vote every day. - ONE ENTRY PER DAY
* After you vote for Maridyn you are able to share it on your Facebook page. 5 ENTRIES
*Blog about the giveaway - 3 ENTRIES
*Tweet about the giveaway- 2 ENTRIES PER TWEET
*Follow the blog- 1 ENTRY
*Fan Cotton Candie Fabric on Facebook

The contest will end on June 28th when voting ends. If we make it to the next round the prize gets better. I dont want to totally give it away- but it starts with "Accuqilt" and ends with "Go!". ;)

Thank you so much for participating and spreading the word!

The support for Love for Layla has been overwhelming. I seriously get chills when I take the blocks out to look at them.

Our total block count as of right now is 148. I can't believe it. When I first discussed this idea with Heather I thought maybe we could get the co-op involved. These lovely ladies blogged and tweeted and even got a few threads shut down on Etsy. Word spread and an abundance of love was shown.

I'm waiting on just a few more blocks and then will begin construction. I've started work on the centerpiece of the parents quilt and have dived blocks evenly between Jenna and Claire's quilt.

I have a HUGE list of people I want to link to that didn't send any information with their blocks. If this is you please email me at candie@cottoncandiefabric.com and let me know your blog, Etsy, flickr...whatever! I just want to make sure you get the credit you so deserve!

ORBC Pinwheel Quilt Along

I love the Old Red Barn Co blog but I love the quilt alongs even more. Everyone is so helpful and creative. I love to look through the gallery just looking at color choices for inspiration.

What I DON'T love is this quilt. I'm not sure why, I love aqua, red and white, I like the idea of pinwheels, but when its all put together its just a little ehh. I also was out of a true white so I used Kona snow. Against the Ta Dots it looks a little dingy, especially up close.

Perhaps its because the back stretched and puckered like nobody's business. I think the real reason is I REALLY want to tear into my new Dewberry fabric to make a living room quilt. I'm making myself hold off until Layla's quilts are done though!

So far behind

I totally admit I'm a horrible blogger. I just feel like I can never keep up.

I do want you to know that Love for Layla is turning out to be a success!

Blocks are starting to roll in and we're gaining more and more exposure. I want to thank everyone who has participated or even just sent words of encouragement. I think we're doing a wonderful thing and hope it comforts the Marsh family in some small way.

Love for Layla Grace

I've spent the last few hours reading about Layla and my heart is broken. I can only imagine how those close to her feel. I would like to reach out to them in the only way I know how to.

I am asking for quilt blocks for the Marsh family. I will do the final construction and quilting and send it on to them. Ideally a 7.5" would be great but I'm not picky. If it needs to be smaller or larger especially to incorporate a design, I can work around it.

If you're not a quilter its ok! We would still love for you to contribute. You can write a message with a fabric marker, transfer a photo of Layla, embroider- whatever moves you and lets this poor family know that they are in our hearts.

If you can't provide a square please spread the word! Tweet and retweet! Blog it, facebook it, whatever it is you do. Feel free to grab the picture and use it as a button on your blog.

I'd like at least one quilt, but if there is enough response I'm thinking I'd like to do one larger one for the parents and two smaller ones for her sisters.

When your blocks are finished you can email me at Candie@cottoncandiefabric.com for the address to mail them to.

Thank you so much!
I have always loved the things that Heather at Olive and Ollie comes up with.

She creates awesome birthday shirts

amazing lounge sets

and adorable dresses

Plus she has a Boston Terrier and we all know that Boston Terrier owners are the coolest people ever!

Through the end of the month there is an even better reason to shop Olive and Ollie though. Layla is 2 years old and has stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma. Heather is donating a portion of her proceeds to little Layla's family.

You can read Layla's Mommy's blog here but be warned. I couldn't make it through the first entry.
